Heritage and Nature
In Campanet we love to protect our history and to take care of the elements which define us. We are a town, the origin of which goes probably back to prehistory, and through all historical periods of Majorca.
As far as the economy is concerned, the agrarian sector was the only proganist of the town’s economy until the 1940s. Soon afterwards came industrialisation, especially the shoe industry, which meant an economical evolution for our town. Nowadays, the economy focuses on trade, service and tourism.
In Campanet you will find a big offer of handicrafts, culture and history. Follow our suggestions, do not hesitate and discover our heritage and our nature like never before:
CAMPANET CAVES
The Campanet caves are, without any doubt, one of the best preserved and spectacular caves in Mallorca. They were discovered in 1945 and they are one of the natural phenomena of the town you cannot miss.
THE “FONTS UFANES” (JAUNTY SPRINGS) - GABELLÍ FOREST
The “Fonts Ufanes” (jaunty springs) are the most unique hydrogeological phenomenon of the island and they are located in the magnificent Gabellí forest. They were defined as natural monument, since they spring up when a lot of rain water from the Tomir mountain and its surroundings has accumulated.
SANT MIQUEL CHAPEL
Sant Miquel chapel is a gothic church which dates back to the 13th century, time of the Catalan conquest. It is located in the Sant Miquel valley, where the town of Campanet was originally situated. It is just a few metres away from the Fonts Ufanes and the caves. It is a must to visit and to experience the harmony between nature, history and the peace that you can breathe there.
